An automated batch conversion process is available off the digital project server. An overnight script will batch create JP2 files using kakadu (command line) software. Also, an EXIF script will transfer any technical metadata and copyright info that was originally embedded in the master tiff file to the JP2 file. For more information on JPEG 2000 file specifications and format policy please see JPEG2000 Profile
WARNING:
Before converting TIFFs check exif data for the following:
Steps:
Note: Use this option when immediate file creation is needed. Otherwise, recommend using batch conversion process for convenience and to maintain consistency in overall file specifications.
Open Photoshop CS5 (if using an earlier version, you must have installed the add-on for jp2 file support)
Open Tiff image
select File > Save as
Select format JPEG2000
Must manually key in extension (.jp2) to filename and press save
Photoshop will automatically save as JPF extent so need to over write the extension as last step
the mime type jp2 must be used to work with djatoka (jpeg 2000 viewer software)
In the 'Save As JPEG2000' window, make sure following settings are selected (Include technical metadata, JP2 compatible, 1024 x1024 tiles) and press ok
As a final confirmation, open windows explore and confirm file extension is JP2
