General info
Metadata
Due to the complex nature of advertisements, descriptive metadata includes information about the images themselves (shared as JPEG2000 files), the source medium (newspapers) as well as the commodity (product, brands, source company, agents and nationality). The majority of bibliographic information is in Chinese. If an English translation of text is available, it is provided in square brackets next to the native language text. Work is being done to transcribe the slogans and other textual information provided within each advertisement.

System Architecture notes
- Images are shared publicly as JPEG2000 files. Source files may be tiff masters or converted from jpeg source files.
- Future work planned for an Omeka exhibit (using linked data) and a custom display of ads within newspaper page
