DDN storage system

Page history last edited by Monica 6 years, 8 months ago

THIS SERVER HAS BEEN DEACTIVATED. IT HAS BEEN REPLACED BY ISILON STORAGE IN AUGUST 2018

Overview:

65 TB usable space 90 TB raw
Estimate 5 year useful life
Expandable space if needed

 From the data sheet:

* Data Protection: data integrity is verified on every read operation with satassureā„¢. silent data corruption is detected and corrected automatically and transparently

* Availability: With active-active controllers, hot swappable hardware components and rolling software upgrades, the s2a6620 delivers extremely high availability and reliability

It is currently populated at half capacity (30/60 drives) set up as three RAID6 volumes which are then striped together into one file system on the HP DL360e server running Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The S2A6620 provides redundant controller heads, power, Fibre-channel connections, and its RAID6 volumes are 10 3TB disks in size, yielding 21.6TB per volume, aggregated into 65TB. Each volume could lose two drives and still be operational. Right now, the 65T volume is formatted with a high-performance (but not particularly high-integrity) Linux XFS file system pending deployment, but that can still be changed as need be.
