Hardware - Indus Scanner

-
Scan head/slider
The scan head contains 3 cameras located inside the hood labeled “Indus.” Note the scanner does not scan the entire length of the glass plate. It stops about 2 inches before end of glass plate. Scanning tip: Place materials above line.
-
Glass plate, white board, book cradles
Do not place anything on top of the glass. It can scratch easily.
Remove any jewelry that may come into contact with glass prior to scanning.
Keep glass plate clean of dust and finger prints, especially on the bottom surface.
TIP: Dust glass prior to placing materials underneath.

White board (not to be confused with white balance board)
For scanning of drawings, maps, photographs, and flat materials the white board is laid on top of both book plates. The front book plate should be aligned in center to fit the white board. There is a ruler printed on the white board. Try to place materials between the two A4 lines. The camera is lined up along these lines.
TIP:For archival scanning it is recommended to use a flat black board. This board can be placed on top of the white board or cradles.
Physically operating/moving cradles
The front book cradle can be spread or pushed together to secure the book in place and support the spine. The back cradle does not separate.

The cradles can also be raised or lowered separately (see control panel info)
3. Control panel
The Control panel consists of 3 black on/off buttons and 3 silver radial buttons
-
Double Footswitch- raises cradles up and down

To raise/lower book plates press appropriate footswitch. The speed at which the plates moved can be controlled by the middle silver button on the control panel. When lowering the book plate you want to make sure to move it slowly so the materials do not suddenly drop which may damage them. Apply enough pressure to foot pedal so materials release from the glass, but do not “drop.”
-
Yellow Footswitch– automatic scanning
Allows hands-free scanning, utilizing existing scanning settings in Proview. This footswitch is used for scanning repeat pages in same job.
