Brief background on Adobe RGB (1998) Color Profile
The goal of color management system (CMS) is to ensure that the colors of the original match as precisely as possible to the digital reproduction.1 We embed color profiles to ensure color matching. Using the Adobe RGB (1998) Color Profile standard provides a consistent tonality across multiple page images. Color matching is critical when color is inherently important to the understanding of the document. Such visual materials may include maps, photographs, and artwork.

The Adobe RGB (1998) Color Profile preserves extra color information that would be lost if saved as simple RGB. Since sRGB has a narrower range of colors than Adobe RGB, it cannot display/ retain highly saturated colors.2
